Mahindra Thar Facelift: Interior and Exterior Updates Spied, Drawing from the 5-Door Thar

The Mahindra Thar has long been a top performer for the brand, with its current iteration significantly boosting sales. After five years on the market, the popular SUV is due for an update. Mahindra has begun testing a facelifted version of the Thar, which is expected to incorporate several key design and feature enhancements, many of which appear to be borrowed from the upcoming 5-door Thar variant.

Recent spy photos of the Mahindra Thar facelift reveal numerous details about the upcoming model. On the exterior, the updated Thar will feature the same vertical slat grille seen on the 5-door version. It will also adopt the headlight unit from the 5-door Thar, which includes an LED projector setup with C-shaped DRLs. Additionally, the front bumper, fog lamps, and LED indicators are consistent with those observed on the larger Thar variant.

Inside, the Thar facelift is set to receive a significant upgrade. It will feature a free-standing 10.2-inch infotainment screen, a notable improvement over the current 7-inch unit. This new display will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The steering wheel is also borrowed from the 5-door Thar and is positioned in front of a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster. However, the spy images suggest the retention of a manual IRVM (Internal Rear View Mirror), and the absence of visible cameras indicates that ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) may not be included.

Mahindra Thar Facelift

Mechanically, the Mahindra Thar facelift is expected to remain unchanged. It will continue to offer the same engine options: a 1.5-litre diesel, a 2.2-litre diesel, and a 2.0-litre petrol engine. Transmission choices will include both manual and automatic options, available with RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) and 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) configurations.

Mahindra & Mahindra is also working on updates for other models in its lineup, including the Bolero facelift, Bolero Neo facelift, and XUV700 facelift. These models are also due for updates after being on the market for some time.
